If you’re dreaming of a luxurious escape surrounded by nature, Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa is the place to be. Tucked deep in Sarawak’s lush rainforest, this resort perfectly blends comfort and adventure, making it an unforgettable getaway.
I once worked remotely in Mulu—just for a one-day shift—and it was an experience! I spent 8 hours at the Mulu Marriott lobby, making full use of their Wi-Fi (since there’s zero telco signal in the rooms). But honestly, I loved that. After a long day of handling social media and emails, disconnecting completely and just resting felt absolutely amazing..

That’s the beauty of digital work—you can do it from anywhere, even in a remote place like Mulu. I really hope more companies embrace this idea for employees who want to balance work with a short getaway! But, of course, trust is key. Some people take advantage of remote work and don’t actually show up for their shifts. Don’t be that person.
During my stay at the resort, I didn’t even get to join my sister on her cave adventures—I was working, remember? But the next day, on my day off, I took a stroll around the resort and booked a spa session for both of us because I knew she’d be exhausted from all that exploring. I’m definitely coming back for the caves next time.
Oh, and wait, did I mention the spa? Yes, besties, they have Mandara Spa! This is exactly why you need to experience Mulu Marriott for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Let me share some photos I took during my stay.

Well, of course! If someone asks, “Is Mulu perfect for solo travelers?” Absolutely! Just make sure to book your cave tour in advance to avoid any last-minute disappointment. Sometimes, if a participant cancels due to health issues or flight disruptions, the tour might be able to squeeze you in. But don’t count on it. Better to secure your spot beforehand and enjoy the adventure stress-free!
You know why I call Mulu a safe zone for solo travelers? There are no crowds of local villagers around the airport—just tour guides waiting to pick up their guests. No packed tourist scenes like in other destinations. So no worries. It’s just you, nature, and adventure. Pure peace. 🌿✨

The resort food? It’s pricey… but makes sense-lah. Mulu is far from the city, so getting supplies there isn’t cheap, totally understandable! Even most local Sarawakians prefer to fly to Mulu rather than take the riverboat route from Miri or Marudi.
So don’t complain—let’s just hope that one day, local villagers or Mulu rep opens a mini-mart with affordable prices, like in Thailand’s tourist spots 😉
Besides staying at Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, you can also check out Mulu National Park Lodges—definitely a budget-friendly option!
Also, keep in mind that there are no ATMs in Mulu, so bring enough cash in case you want to buy local native handicrafts or try local food. But no worries—the resort and spa accept cards!
Well, that’s it for today’s blog! I hope you get to experience Mulu for yourself soon 😊
I didn’t know you went to Mulu! This is a good read, like always! We need to explore Sarawak TOGETHER stat
